Jerry's incredible journey began after a life-changing injury when a tractor fell on him at a construction site. Against all odds, he became one of less than 2% of paraplegics who can walk—a walking paraplegic.
"I completely retrained my body and mind to walk after being paralyzed," Jerry explains.
"I heard a lot about what I could no longer do during recovery," Jerry recalls. "Instead of being discouraged, I took it as a challenge. I don't like to hear the word 'no.'"
With the support of the Desert Ability Center, Jerry regained his mobility and confidence through cycling.
During a cycling trip with the DAC, Jerry experienced a significant setback—his bike broke down far into the East Valley, and he realized the lack of local repair shops for adaptive bikes.
Jerry's solution was to start repairing adaptive bikes himself, and if you know Jerry even a little bit… You know all the greatest stories with Jerry begin with a dash of inspiration and endless hours in his garage.
Jerry's reputation for excellence was already a force to be reckoned with in certain circles, so when his passion for adaptive biking led to the official opening of Alcorn Adaptive Bike and Mobility Shop in 2020, it prospered.
